Job description

Lower Elementary Montessori Guide (K–2)

Nikolaevsk Charter School – Alaska

Nikolaevsk Charter School is a new public charter school opening on the beautiful southern Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Our school serves students in a K–8 Montessori program and a 9–12 Career & Technical Education program focused on real-world skills and community engagement.

We are seeking an adventurous and enthusiastic Lower Elementary Montessori Guide who believes children learn best through meaningful work, exploration, and connection with the natural world.

Our students spend significant time outdoors and engage in gardening, food production, cooking, practical life activities, animal care, handcrafts, and community projects. We are building a Farm-to-Table educational program where children experience the full cycle of planting, growing, harvesting, preparing, and sharing food.

The ideal candidate:
  • Holds a valid teaching certificate (required by our school district)
  • Is Montessori trained or interested in completing Montessori training
  • Loves the outdoors and hands-on learning
  • Enjoys working in a small, supportive community
  • Values independence, curiosity, and child-led learning
  • Is excited to help build a new Montessori program from the ground up
We offer:
  • Strong community support
  • Small class sizes (20)
  • Extensive outdoor learning opportunities
  • Access to gardens, agricultural projects, cooking, pottery, sewing, and practical life experiences
  • Financial support for Montessori training for the right candidate
  • The opportunity to help shape a unique rural Montessori program

If you are looking for a position where Montessori education extends beyond the classroom walls and into gardens, workshops, kitchens, and the natural world, we would love to hear from you.
