Job summary

Decatur Public Schools is seeking two K-2 Instructional Teaching Assistants for immediate placement at Dennis Lab School. You will support teachers with classroom instruction, supervise students during learning activities, and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Positions require relevant education credentials and a commitment to student safety and learning. The roles report to the Building Administrator and include essential duties described in the job posting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years old to work with students in grades PreK-12.
• Beginning January 1, 2023, may qualify for ELS-Paraprofessional license when eligible at age 18.
• Must meet one of the required education options listed.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in daily academic activities as directed by teachers.
• Assist in grading and assigning work; maintain student records.
• Distribute and collect instructional materials.
• Escort and assist students; monitor safety.
• Support meeting individual needs and report unsafe conditions.

Education

Associate's degree or higher

60 semester hours of coursework

High School Diploma or GED with ETS Parapro score 460

High School Diploma or GED with ACT WorkKeys: Applied Mathematics 4; Reading for information 4
