Job summary

The NATIVES Program Tutor for Eugene School District 4J is a temporary on-site position designed to support K-12 students with core subjects through one-on-one and small group tutoring. The tutor provides review, practice, and reteaching, building confidence and study skills while aligning with classroom goals and rubrics.

Key duties include coordinating with administrators to schedule sessions, setting achievable goals with students, and delivering timely positive feedback.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Strong communication and positive feedback skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with NATIVES Program Administrator to determine location, times, and subjects for tutoring sessions. Communicate concerns to the NATIVES Program Coordinator.
• Collaborate with students to set reasonable, achievable, and value-added goals and celebrate achievement.
• Work with classroom teachers to obtain rubrics, practice guides, or missing work in order to assist and support the student.
• Provide positive, timely and meaningful feedback to students.
• Support key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom
• Provide feedback to students, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
• Review learning material with students; discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
• Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learn new tutoring techniques.
• Maintains regular and prompt attendance.
