All Uncommon Schools teachers are primarily responsible for implementing Uncommon’s curriculum and ensuring student success. We seek teachers committed to becoming best-in-class educators, who continuously improve their instructional practices through collaboration and targeted development within their school community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement curricula and activities to meet high academic standards
  • Analyze assessments to measure progress and use data to inform instruction
  • Focus on student learning, responding to their needs critically and strategically
  • Create a positive, structured learning environment aligned with school values, expectations, and conduct codes
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participate in professional growth activities, including an annual three-week staff orientation in August and ongoing training
  • Support grade-level and school-wide activities throughout the year

Preferred qualifications include prior experience working with K-12 students, especially in urban communities, though a background in education is not mandatory for new teachers.

Additional qualifications for experienced teachers:

  • Proven high achievement in classroom settings
  • Minimum of two years teaching in urban public or charter schools
  • State certification and a Master’s degree are advantageous but not required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • GPA of 2.75 or higher before employment begins
