Job Description
All Uncommon Schools teachers are primarily responsible for implementing Uncommon’s curriculum and ensuring student success. We seek teachers committed to becoming top-tier educators, continuously improving instructional practices through collaboration and targeted development within their school community. We are currently hiring both experienced and apprentice teachers for all grades and subjects for the 24-25 and 25-26 school years.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Implement curricula and activities to meet high academic standards
  • Analyze assessments to measure progress and use data to inform instruction
  • Focus on student learning, responding strategically to their needs
  • Create a positive, structured learning environment aligned with school values and expectations
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Participate actively in professional growth opportunities, including a three-week staff orientation in August and ongoing training throughout the year
  • Support grade-level and school-wide activities during the academic year

Qualifications

While a background in education is not mandatory for new teachers, candidates should demonstrate a passion for working with K-12 students and preferably have experience in urban schools or communities.

Additional Qualifications for Experienced Teachers

  • Proven high achievement in the classroom
  • At least two years of teaching in urban public or charter schools (preferred)
  • Valid State Certification and a Master’s degree are helpful but not required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • GPA of 2.75 or higher by the start of employment
