Iron Mountain School District is seeking a 5-12 Special Education Teacher to guide and evaluate the learning experience of students in the district’s K-12 program. The role demands alignment with Michigan DOE requirements and collaboration with teachers, parents, and ISD staff.

The position emphasizes maintaining records, preparing weekly lesson plans tied to IEPs, and conducting IEP meetings to ensure compliant, timely documentation and positive student outcomes.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or graduate degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid certification as required by the Michigan Department of Education in Special Education (K-12).
• Fingerprint and Criminal Background clearance.
• State of Michigan Continuing Education Clock Hour Requirements.

Responsabilités

• Maintain records as required by district policy; maintain professional ethics.
• Prepare and adhere to a weekly lesson plan for each student that addresses the needs and modifications outlined in the student's I.E.P.
• Assist the school with placement recommendations and conduct appropriate testing of all assigned students.
• Keep parents informed with conferences, written reports and progress reports.
• Schedule and conduct all I.E.P. meetings and ensure paperwork is completed and shared with parents.
• Implement behavior modification techniques to promote positive behavior.
• Coordinate with ISD staff to meet Special Education requirements and participate in training.
• Attend staff meetings as adopted in the district calendar.
