Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a Specialist, Instructional (FSC) to develop and implement science instruction for K–12 students, educators, and the community. The role may involve instruction at Fernbank Science Center, schools, field locations, and virtual environments, with emphasis on high-quality science education

Qualifications

• Master's degree in science education or higher preferred; five years of relevant science experience acceptable.
• Valid GaPSC certificate in science education at elementary, middle, or high school level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates formal and informal science instructional programs for K–12 students and the community.
• Provides direct science instruction through standards-based courses and laboratories.
• Coordinates professional learning and collaborates with district and external partners.
• Updates curricula and assessments to align with science standards and instructional needs.
• Supervises students and ensures safety procedures in labs and field experiences.
• Participates in public science programming, including events and planetarium programs.
