Job summary

GFT seeks a Construction Manager to join our Construction Services Team in New York, NY to deliver school construction projects. This on-site role coordinates with architects, contractors and clients to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will manage scheduling, budgeting, change orders, and field issues across multiple projects, requiring 5+ years' experience in construction. A degree in engineering, architecture or construction and a valid NY driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture or construction.
• 5+ years of full-time experience as a technical specialist in construction/design.
• Oral and written communication that is clear and concise.
• Understanding of contract documents (specifications and drawings).
• Ability to address issues as they arise and solve problems.
• Must be organized and able to manage logistics of multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience in new, rehab and modernization construction projects.
• Driver’s license valid in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Makes decisions on phasing and scheduling of projects; prepares schedules for planning, design and construction.
• Monitors schedules to ensure on-time completion within budget.
• Interface with contractors, construction managers and client on project issues.
• Develops and issues project procedures and policies; reviews and makes recommendations.
• Resolves issues raised in field reports by architects and construction staff.
• Coordinates change orders and interpretation of contract documents with architects/engineers.
• Issues field memoranda to enforce contract compliance.
• Uses independent judgement to make on-site decisions.
• Reviews contractors' claims and advises on action.
• Visits various job sites as required.
• Performs other related tasks.
