Job summary

University of Michigan Museum of Natural History is seeking a part-time Argus Planetarium Presenter in Ann Arbor. The role runs from November 2026 through June 15, 2027, averaging 20 hours per week during the school day.

Compensation is $20–$25 per hour, with training provided on equipment and astronomy. You will schedule shows, learn and present multiple grade-level programs, and liaise with teachers and district staff to support an ongoing collaboration between the museum and Ann Arbor Public

Qualifications

• BA in natural sciences, education, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years formal or informal teaching or group presentation experience.
• Excellent communicator for diverse audiences and dependable.
• Able to learn operate complex planetarium equipment independently.
• Must be available 3–4 weekdays per week, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with AAPS to schedule shows for 1st and 5th grade classes.
• Learn and present Argus/UMMNH planetarium shows (4 shows: 1st, 5th, 8th, HS).
• Startup/shutdown of planetarium for shows; present to school and HS groups.
• Communicate with teachers and staff about questions and issues.
• Assist in training additional presenter and contribute to evaluation reports.
