Job summary

Sumter School District seeks a certified Physical Education teacher for the elementary or secondary level in Sumter, SC. Candidates must be certified in K-12 physical education; PACE-eligible letters of eligibility will be considered.

Bachelor's degree or higher and a valid SC teaching certificate in the assigned area are required. 190 days of work; salary and calendar set by the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Valid South Carolina teacher's certificate in the assigned teaching area.
• PACE candidates with letters of eligibility will be considered.
• Certification in K-12 physical education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets student needs and state standards in physical education.
• Establishes clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students.
• Uses a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable for the setting and student needs.
• Employs effective classroom management to create a conducive learning environment.
• Works to implement the District's educational philosophy and goals.
• Takes all precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
