Job summary

Chartwells K-12 is hiring a Food Unit Lead for the Cheltenham School District in Elkins Park, PA. This full-time role coordinates activities of food-service staff and ensures a quality dining experience for students and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising meal service, training staff, managing schedules, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards in compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• Prior supervisory in a K12 setting is preferred.
• Culinary or cooking experience is required.
• PA school background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of other food-service employees.
• Provides quality customer service with attention to detail.
• Oversees food/service preparation and presentation per standards.
• Ensures timely, efficient meal service and supervises serving of meals.
• Responds to customer complaints in person and via email.
• Trains employees and assigns work to promote efficiency and excellence.
• Develops work schedules and expedites workflow.
• Manages daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, payroll, timekeeping).
• Maintains proper cash handling as per Food Accounting Manual.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources.
• Directs sanitation and safety in line with company standards and regulations.
• Implements sanitation schedules and ensures adherence.
• Provides instructions and orientation to staff; oversees training.
