Job summary

Allegheny Intermediate Unit seeks a K-12 English as a Second Language Substitute Teacher (Finance) to support ESL services. Qualifications

• Valid PA ESL Program Specialist certificate.
• Valid PA certificate in Elementary K-6 and either English 7-12 or Communications 7-12, or Reading Specialist K-12.
• Experience teaching ESL and/or teaching at elementary or secondary level.
• Experience with WIDA Screener and ACCESS for ELLs assessments preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
• Team player with ability to collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of second language acquisition and teach English to English Learners.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and document initial screener and state ELP tests for placement decisions.
• Maintain student instruction schedules and adhere to them.
• Facilitate daily lesson plans with sound language development techniques and regular assessment.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and stakeholders to support ELs.
• Complete paperwork (mileage, time sheets, schedules, rosters) by due dates.
• Communicate with school personnel to ensure policy compliance and team planning.
• Provide ELD instruction addressing language proficiency, literacy, and academic language.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress; use interpreters as needed.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with best practices.
• Participate in collaborative planning and decision-making with ESL Administration.
