Job summary

Concorde Education is seeking enthusiastic tutors to provide engaging in-person ELA tutoring and academic support for K–12 students at partner schools and educational organizations. No formal teaching certification is required.

You’ll help students build reading comprehension, writing proficiency, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking while building confidence. Independent contractor, part-time, $50+ per hour, depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of English Language Arts concepts for the grades served.
• Ability to support reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain literacy concepts clearly and adapt instruction to individual student needs.
• Patience, professionalism, and enthusiasm for helping students learn.
• Ability to work with students of varying reading levels and abilities.
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a school environment.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to complete applicable background checks and onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, age-appropriate ELA tutoring and academic support for K–12 students.
• Help students strengthen reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and foundational literacy skills.
• Support grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, spelling, and written expression.
• Assist with paragraph development, essay writing, creative writing, and research-based assignments.
• Guide students in analyzing literature, identifying main ideas, interpreting texts, and developing critical reading skills.
• Reinforce phonics, reading strategies, and early literacy development when appropriate for younger students.
• Help students develop organizational skills, reading strategies, and effective approaches to written assignments.
• Provide homework reinforcement, academic intervention, and test preparation as appropriate.
• Identify areas where students need additional support and adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Encourage independent thinking, effective communication, and confidence in reading and writing.
• Maintain a supportive, patient, and productive learning environment.
