Job summary

Jacobs in Manhattan, NY is seeking a Cost Estimator to join a collaborative project team working on projects that will impact K-12 facilities and other critical infrastructure. You will develop and maintain cost estimates, review contractor pricing, and support project budgets to ensure delivery aligns with client standards.

The role requires an Associate or Bachelor degree in engineering or construction fields and 5+ years' experience in building construction, including MEP and civil projects.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering or Construction field or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience on building construction MEP and civil projects as Cost Engineer/Estimator.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans to prepare estimates.
• Ability to understand project scope and create estimates per scope/specs.
• Ability to perform quantity take-offs from drawings and other technical documents.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project cost/change controls and budget.
• Review contractor unit prices and prepare new cost estimates.
• Assist in reviewing processes with contractors and perform cost analyses.
• Prepare change order estimates/negotiations and maintain documentation control.
• Support scheduling and RFI management to keep projects on track.
• Analyze drawings to estimate time, materials, and labor.
