Job summary

Procon seeks an experienced Project Manager to support the District of Columbia Department of General Services (DGS) and DC Public Schools (DCPS) Capital Construction Program in Washington, DC. The selected candidate will serve as the Owner’s Representative, managing school modernization, renovation, and facility upgrades throughout the full lifecycle.

Ideal candidates will have K‑12 or public-sector capital experience; proficiency with CPM scheduling and Primavera P6 is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CM, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5+ years managing construction or capital projects; 7+ preferred.
  • Experience leading through design, procurement, construction, and occupancy.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Experience reviewing design docs, drawings, specs, schedules.
  • Public-sector or large capital programs experience.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and PM software.
  • Familiarity with school operations and occupancy constraints.
  • CPM scheduling, Primavera P6, change management, construction claims analysis.
  • Experience as owner’s rep, program manager, or CM preferred.
  • Professional certifications PMP/CCM/PE/RA/LEED AP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects through planning, design, construction, closeout, and occupancy.
  • Lead planning, scope, procurement support, and design management.
  • Review drawings, specs, schedules, budgets, GMPs, change orders, and proposals.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, safety, and schedule.
  • Coordinate activities among DGS, DCPS, design teams, contractors, and regulators.
  • Support portfolio-wide standards, procedures, and delivery strategies.
  • Monitor budgets, contingencies, forecasts, risks, and financial performance.
  • Review payments, change orders, RFIs, and contractor documentation.
  • Prepare reporting, briefings, and portfolio-level analyses.
  • Manage closeout, commissioning, turnover, warranty, and occupancy.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and assistants.
  • Support sustainability and energy management initiatives.
