Job summary

Miami Elementary School seeks a Part-Time Paraprofessional to support K-1 Resource Room students. The role works 29 hours per week, Monday–Friday when school is in session, 8:00am–2:30pm, at Miami Elementary School. Benefits include PTO; pay is $15.40 per hour. Reports to the building administrator or designee.

Primary duties include supervising students, assisting with instruction, and supporting teachers with assessments and classroom activities in a resource setting.

Qualifications

• 48 hours of earned credit or equivalent.
• Passed the ParaPro assessment; certification may follow.

Responsibilities

• Assist with students' arrival to and departure from school.
• Escort students between classrooms, libraries, labs, and other locations.
• Assist with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
• Support teachers with functional assessment and data collection.
• Work with individuals or small groups using developmentally appropriate materials.
• Tutor individuals or small groups using prescribed instructional objectives.
• Assist with seating, positioning, and gross motor activities under guidance.
• Support behavior management strategies alongside teachers and behavior consultants.
• Assist with supplementary work and supervise independent study.
• Conduct prescribed reading and math programs.
• Assist with crisis intervention and classroom discipline.
• Supervise playground, lunchroom, and study hall.
• Operate assistive technology devices and classroom equipment.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain supplies.
• Set up and maintain learning centers and equipment.
• Prepare individualized instructional materials.
• Observe and record student performance and behavior.
• Maintain attendance and medication records; perform clerical tasks.
• Attend staff or IEP meetings as needed.
• Study materials to improve curriculum knowledge and use of equipment.
• Perform general duties as requested by the teacher.
