Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  • Successful completion of Bloodborne Pathogens and Hepatitis B Shots Series Training
  • Current teacher or substitute certification in Illinois, or completion of the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) coaching certification set forth by IHSA
  • May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification

Responsibilities:
  • Assist head coach in planning and scheduling practices and events according to district and IHSA rules
  • Assist with inventory, team rosters, and athlete behavior management
  • Oversee safety conditions and ensure proper equipment and facility management
  • Coach individual skills and enforce discipline and sportsmanship
  • Ensure proper attire, fundamental practice, and timely task completion
  • Maintain records and provide a positive environment
  • Recommends equipment and supplies purchases
  • Share responsibility for field or court preparation and safety precautions
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Stipend:

Per Collective Bargaining Agreement. Coaches and Assistant Coaches with 1-4 years of district experience shall be paid at 80% of the full rate.

Reporting and Summary:

Reports to the High School Principal, Athletic Director, or Head Coach. Assists in instructing student athletes, fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must have adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, and visual and auditory acuity to perform duties effectively.
