Job summary

Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, MD seeks an athletics coach for a single season as part of MCPS. This is a part-time, non-benefited position with wage information provided in the MCPS Extracurricular Handbook and MCEA Contract.

Applicants must be MCPS teachers or certified educators, and must complete required MCPS coaching coursework and submit the online MCPS application. Coaches are hired by the principal or designee, with emergency coach options available.

Qualifications

• Must be an MCPS teacher or professional certified educator employed by MCPS.
• Must have completed or be enrolled in the two credit MCPS course "Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Coaching Fundamentals and CPR/AED" which is offered periodically through the MCPS Athletics Unit.
• Must complete/submit the on-line MCPS Application.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and hire by the principal or designee at the school where the coaching vacancy exists.
• Coaches must be qualified and are hired for one season.
• Schools must hire qualified MCPS teachers or professional certified educators to coaching positions.
