Job summary

Cass Lake-Bena Public Schools in Cass Lake, MN, is seeking a part-time, seasonal Junior Varsity/Assistant Coach. You will assist in developing practice plans, teaching techniques, and organizing team activities, while mentoring student-athletes academically and athletically.

You will report to the Head Coach and contribute to a respectful, inclusive team environment aligned with school values.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and experience in the specific activity, preferably at a competitive level.
• Previous coaching experience, preferably with high school athletes.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Commitment to promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
• First aid/CPR certification preferred
• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans and training programs under the head coach.
• Teach and refine techniques and strategies under supervision.
• Monitor and evaluate player performance under the head coach.
• Organize team participation in matches, tournaments, and events.
• Manage team equipment and logistics; maintain inventory.
• Provide academic and personal guidance to student-athletes.
• Communicate schedules, expectations, and team needs with parents and staff.
• Ensure players meet academic and eligibility requirements.
• Manage rosters, attendance, schedule, and budget; order uniforms and supplies.
• Uphold school policies and foster a positive, inclusive team culture.

Job Summary

Responsible for helping to develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Responsibilities include helping organize and conduct practice sessions, and managing team logistics. The assistant coach will also mentor student-athletes, providing guidance on both athletic and academic endeavors, and foster a positive and inclusive team environment. A commitment to upholding the school's values and promoting a culture of respect and excellence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the head coach help develop and implement practice plans and trainingprograms.
• Under the direction of the head coach help teach and refine techniques and strategies.
• Under the direction of the head coach help monitor and evaluate player performance.

• Ensure adherence to all school and league policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with school staff and the athletic department to support student-athlete success.

Administrative And Communication Duties

• Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the athletic department regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs under the direction of the head coach.
• Help ensure all team members meet academic and eligibility requirements under the direction o fthe head coach.
• Manage the rosters, attendance, schedule, and budget, including ordering uniforms, equipment, and supplies under the direction of the head coach.
• Understanding of Google Suite for administrative duties is preferred.
• Uphold school student and athletic policies.

Working Conditions

• Must be available for after-school practices, evening games, and occasional weekend events.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions during outdoor events/indoor events.
• Physical ability to demonstrate techniques and participate in physical activities.
