FieldLevel, Inc. in Forestville, Maryland is seeking a JV Head Coach to build the foundation of our volleyball program through teaching, mentorship, and athlete development.

You will create an environment where student-athletes grow in fundamentals, volleyball IQ, confidence, discipline, and teamwork. The ideal candidate loves teaching the game, guiding high school athletes, and preparing them for the next level with strong habits, clear communication, and accountability.

Qualifications

• Previous volleyball coaching and/or playing experience.
• Strong teaching and communication skills.
• Ability to connect with and motivate high school athletes.
• Understanding of long-term athlete development and foundational skill progression.
• Passion for mentorship, culture-building, and teaching the game the right way.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce volleyball fundamentals, movement patterns, and team systems.
• Create organized, high-energy practices that prioritize repetition, learning, and growth.
• Develop athletes’ volleyball IQ, communication, and confidence on the court.
• Help athletes understand the “why” behind skills, decisions, and team concepts.
• Build a team culture centered on discipline, accountability, effort, respect, and teamwork.
• Prepare athletes for progression within the program by emphasizing strong habits and attention to detail.
• Manage practices, match preparation, lineups, and in-game adjustments.
• Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and administration.
• Work collaboratively with the Varsity staff to support overall program development and alignment.
• Continue growing in coaching knowledge and remain open to learning new methods, systems, and ideas within the game.

The ideal candidate understands that JV is not just about winning matches, but about preparing athletes for the next level through strong habits, communication, accountability, and skill development.The right coach is someone who is both confident and humble, a student of the game who continues learning, studying, and evolving as volleyball evolves. They should value discipline, effort, fundamentals, and culture, while also being able to connect with athletes and lead by example.
