    Valid Illinois Driver's License;
    Successful completion of Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance;
    Bloodborne Pathogens and Hepatitis B Shots Series Training;
    Current teacher or substitute certification in Illinois, or completion of the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) coaching certification by IHSA;
    First Aid/CPR Certification (may be required).
  • Responsibilities:
    Assists the Athletic Director with scheduling contests and transportation;
    Prepares the field or court;
    Coaches students in sport skills;
    Enforces discipline and sportsmanship standards;
    Ensures proper dress, equipment care, and organization of practices and drills;
    Completes tasks timely and follows school protocols;
    Establishes performance criteria for eligibility;
    Hires, trains, and evaluates assistant coaches;
    Maintains records and manages athlete behavior;
    Oversees safety and schedules practices;
    Provides a positive environment and reports to the Athletic Director;
    Recommends equipment purchases;
    Serves as head coach for assigned sport;
    Takes safety precautions and performs related tasks.
  • Stipend and Schedule:
    Paid according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement; coaches with 1-4 years experience earn 80% of full rate;
    Hours vary based on practice and game schedules.
  • Supervision:
    Reports to the High School Principal, Athletic Director, or designated administrator.
  • Summary:
    Provides leadership and instruction to student-athletes, fostering skill development, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.

    Same as qualifications listed above.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Knowledge of sport, injury care, coaching techniques, ethics, policies;
    Skills in coaching, communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership;
    Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and physical ability to perform duties.
