Job summary

Veritas Prep is seeking a Junior Varsity Girl's Basketball Assistant Coach for the 2025-2026 school year in Springfield. You will work with the Head Coach to develop player skills, design practices, and implement game strategies while fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

You’ll also monitor academics to ensure eligibility, organize logistics for practices and games, and engage with parents to build a supportive community around the program.

Qualifications

Experience in basketball as player or coach is highly desirable.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Passion for youth development and player safety.
Commitment to equity and inclusion within the sports program.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design and implement training sessions and game strategies.
Provide individualized coaching to players for skill development and game intelligence.
Promote a positive, respectful atmosphere among student-athletes.
Monitor academic progress and maintain eligibility for participation.
Assist in organizing practices, games, and tournaments logistics.
Support Head Coach during games with strategy execution and player management.
Engage with parents to foster community around the program.
Participate in team meetings and coaching sessions to improve tactics.
Model high standards of sportsmanship and ethics.
