Phillips Exeter Academy is seeking a part-time athletic coach to instruct or coach teams and individual students in the fundamentals of sports, demonstrating techniques and methods to prepare athletes for competition and tours.

The role requires directing practices, providing motivation, and staying current with sports rules and training methods. The schedule includes daytime practices with home/away games; a high school diploma is required and experience coaching students is preferred.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Has played sport in high school or college or has reached a level of expertise in the sport as an adult through participation coaching or through a formal coaching development program.
• Experience in an academic institution preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.

• Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions in collaboration of Head Coach.
• Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare athletes for games, competitive events, and/or tours.
• Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport.
• Adjust coaching techniques based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes.
• Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles such as specific ways of moving the body, hands, and/or feet in order to achieve desired results.
• Evaluate athletes' skills, and review performance records, in order to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics.
• Represent the program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship and values.
• Transport athletes to games by driving academy van or minibus.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

SCHEDULE: Sports teams have daytime practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday ,Friday, with home and away games/matches Wednesday and Saturday. Season begins November 16, 2026 through potentially March 7, 2027. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Wage: $4,600 - $5,620 per season.

Based on relevant experience.

Position Purpose

Instruct or coach teams and individual students in the fundamentals of sports. Demonstrate techniques and methods of participation. May evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits, or to improve the athlete's technique to prepare them for competition.

Position Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

• Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objects as well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
• Physically able to act quickly in emergencies.
• Ability and dexterity to grasp and grip and safely operate sports equipment.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs without assistance.

Additional Requirements

• Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
• Clean driving record (reviewed annually).
