Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Teach advanced skills, team organization, and fundamentals.
• Design and follow quality daily practice sessions.
• Work collaboratively with Varsity coach at RLBMS.
• Collaborate with LCHS boys basketball coaches and program.
• Submit WVSSAC eligibility paperwork to the AD.
• Assist the AD in setting up athletic contests.
• Follow end-of-season procedures (equipment inventory, letter winners).
• Submit transportation requests for contests.
• Organize off-season conditioning and skills-building program.
• Promote middle school basketball within the school and community.
• Enforce school and county athletics and student behavior rules.
• Maintain media communications of competition results.
• Ensure safety and supervision of students at practices and events.
• Attend WVSSAC clinics and booster meetings.

Job description

POSITION: Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Coach – Robert L. Bland Middle School

CERTIFICATION: West Virginia Teaching Certificate, 5202 Substitute Permit Certificate

or eligible for a Temporary Coach's Authorization

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Advanced knowledge of basketball fundamentals/concepts, team organization, rules, and policies of the WVSSAC
• Previous experience as a basketball coach; preferred at the middle school level

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teacher of advanced skills, team organization, and fundamentals
• Design and follow a quality and organized daily practice sessions
• Work collaboratively with Varsity coach at RLBMS
• Work collaboratively with LCHS boys basketball coaches and program
• Collect and submit all WVSSAC eligibility paper work to the AD
• Assist the AD in setting up for athletic contests
• Follow end of season procedures (inventory of equipment, uniforms, naming of letter winners, etc.)
• Assist in submitting transportation request times to the AD for athletic contests
• Participate in activities that promote growth and development
• Organize an off-season conditioning and skills building program
• Promote middle school basketball within the school system and community
• Enforce all rules and policies of the school and county related to athletics and student behavior
• Develop an athletic code of conduct to be signed by athletes and parents
• Keep the media informed of competition results
• Maintain positive communications with athletes, parents, and administration
• Work with youth programs in promoting middle school basketball
• Ensure the safety and supervision of students while at practice, events, and waiting for transportation home
• Attend WVSSAC rules clinic, booster meetings, and recognition ceremonies
• Work with the coaching staff and AD in organizing and implementing a skill building program for weeks 50, 51, and 52 as per WVSSAC regulations
• All other Coaches' Performance Criteria as per State Board Policy 5310, Section 29 (§126-142-29)

SALARY: $2,100.00
