Job summary

Massabesic High School is seeking a dedicated JV Boys Basketball Coach to join our athletics department. The coach will assist in training, game prep, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting sportsmanship and Mustang pride.

Ideal candidates have coaching or playing experience and solid knowledge of basketball rules and strategies. Compliance courses and background checks are required by RSU 57.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience at high school or college level or playing experience.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and game strategy.
• Meets RSU 57 and MPA eligibility requirements: First Aid, CPR, Concussion, Heat acclimatization, coaching fundamentals, sudden cardiac arrest, abuse prevention, mental health/suicide prevention.
• RSU 57 Background Check and Maine criminal history/fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
• Teach fundamentals, game strategy, and conditioning techniques.
• Supervise student-athletes and ensure safety and discipline.
• Support students' academic, personal, and social growth.
• Participate in staff meetings, film review, scouting, and planning.
• Contribute to fundraising, community outreach, and team-building events.
• Promote sportsmanship, integrity, and Mustang pride.
• Help manage equipment inventory and distribution.
• Ensure compliance with MPA/district policies.
• Travel with the team to away games.
