Job summary

Madison County Public Schools is seeking a JV Boys Basketball Coach to lead and mentor student athletes, developing skill, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

The coach will plan practices, teach basketball techniques, and travel with teams to away games while upholding safety and academic standards in collaboration with the Athletic Director. CPR/AED/First Aid and concussion training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior coaching experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Must have personal skills reflecting positive relations with student-athletes, parents and the community.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a broad population of students and colleagues.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
• Concussion training certification required.
• Follows all district policies, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques necessary for athlete achievement.
• Ensures the team reflects proper attitude and conduct at home or away games.
• Assists in developing training programs and practice schedules.
• Travels with student-athletes on school buses to away games.
• Maintains a safe environment for student athletes.
• Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
• Works with Athletic Director to operate a balanced athletic program.
• Attends trainings and clinics to improve coaching performance.
• Ensures medical examinations are completed before the season begins.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Prior experience coaching student athletes strongly preferred.

• Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
• Must be certified in Concussion training.
• Follows all district policies, rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Instructs and teaches skill sets and techniques necessary for athlete's achievement.

• Assists in developing appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
• Travels with student athletes on school assigned bus to all away games.
• Maintains a safe environment for student athletes.
• Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
• Works cooperatively with Athletic Director in order to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
• Must attend any training, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.iol
• Ensures that all student athletes practicing have undergone and passed all medical examinations before the regular practice season begins.
• Other duties as assigned
