Position: Girls JV Basketball Coach

Position Summary: The JV Girls Basketball Coach will foster player growth, sportsmanship, and teamwork while emphasizing fundamental skills and competitive play.

Minimum Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sportand, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent tothe field.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes throughhis/her instructions and actions.

Essential Functions

• Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, techniques, and strategies
• Conduct structured and engaging practices
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes growth and sportsmanship
• Work closely with the varsity coach to align coaching philosophies and team goals
• Develop lineups and strategies for JV matches
• Supervise athletes during matches, practices, and team events
• Communicate effectively with parents, players, and school administration
• Organize team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and scheduling
• Assist in fundraising and community outreach
• Commitment to regular and predictable attendance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by Middlesex County Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of thesports program.
• Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements same consistently andinterprets them for staff.
• Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

• Must be able tostand, walk, and move about for extended periods of timeduring practices, games, and related events.
• Must be able todemonstrate sport-specific skillsandmove quicklyas necessary to provide instruction and ensure player safety.
• Must be able tolift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment(generally up to 25–50 pounds).
• Must be able tobend, stoop, kneel, reach, and squatin the setup and demonstration of athletic activities.
• Must be able toproject voice and communicate effectivelyto groups of students in indoor and outdoor settings.
• Must be able tosustain energy and staminafor the duration of practices, games, and team travel.
• Must be able towork in varying indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions.
• Must be able totravel with teams, which may include evenings, weekends, and overnight trips.
