Job summary

Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City is seeking a part-time JV Basketball Assistant Coach to support the growth and leadership of the Junior Varsity program from November through February. The role reports to the Associate Director of Athletics and requires availability Monday to Wednesday and Fridays evenings (3:00 pm – 6:30 pm).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or combination of education and experience
• Solid knowledge of basketball and experience working with high school athletes
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Extremely detail-oriented and organized
• A record of integrity, reliability, punctuality and strong work ethic
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing a high standard in sport skill instruction, motivation, and conduct of practice sessions
• Support efforts to attain competitive results that demonstrate athletic excellence
• Help develop a strong team culture in line with CSH athletic program values
• Demonstrate interest in social, emotional, academic, moral-ethical and athletic development of student-athletes
• Exhibit professional behavior and adhere to relevant rules and guidelines
• Complete coach duties including roster management, game operations, schedules, transportation, and trainings
• Mentor and develop student-athletes within the sub-Varsity program
• Participate in coach development sessions
• Use video and statistics as teaching tools
