Job summary

Denison Community School District is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach (JV) at Denison High School. The role supports the Head Coach and Activity Director, overseeing student athletes and coordinating practices, games, and transportation.

The candidate should hold a valid Iowa teaching certificate and have prior coaching experience within the district, with a strong grasp of baseball techniques and safety protocols. This position reports to the Head Coach and Building Principal.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa teaching certificate.
• Employment as a teacher in the Denison Community School District.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.

Responsibilities

• Implements athletic policies approved by the Denison Board of Education and ensures staff compliance.
• Knows existing system, state and league regulations and applies them consistently.
• Schedules activities with the activities director and head coach, and arranges transportation and tournament logistics.
• Provides training in sport rules and unique regulations to each athlete.
• Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians and supports athletes in college selection.
• Maintains facilities, equipment, and security; oversees locker rooms and access control.
• Promotes the sport within the school and in community/outreach efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.
