Job summary

State of Washington's DCYF in Spokane is seeking a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 to support reentry planning and CTS services for youth on parole. You will provide a comprehensive, trauma-informed supervision and coordinate care with JR staff and community partners.

You will conduct assessments, determine risk and supervision level, develop family service plans, and help youth transition back to the community using Risk-Need-Responsivity principles and equity in practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing, and/or facilitation youth group activities or related field.
• Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or allied field will substitute for the one year of experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Responsibilities

• Provide aftercare services to youth on supervision and their families to support transition and reentry.
• Conduct interviews and administer/interpret assessments to determine risk and required level of care or supervision.
• Model pro-social adaptive behavior and assess youth behavior for risk to self or community and refer for treatment services.
• Collaborate with JRC1s, JR Specialists, and other JRC2s.
• Participate in Future Planning and attend Future Planning Meetings when a youth is admitted to JR or released.
• Develop family service plans in consultation with families and service providers within JR Integrated Treatment Model.
• Work with families in their home environment to assess needs and support transition.
