Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking a Probation Officer to perform juvenile probation services, investigate backgrounds, and assist the court in determining dispositions. You will manage cases, interview involved parties, and prepare reports and treatment plans.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of related experience; a Master’s degree is preferred. This is a full-time position with standard county benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or Sociology, or related field.
• A minimum of two years of related work experience, such as juvenile probation, case management, or mental health counseling.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provides case management services to juveniles on probation to prevent future delinquency.
• Interviews parents, children, complainants, police, neighbors, teachers, clergy and others to assess background conditions.
• Compiles social history, uses assessment tools, and prepares treatment plans.
• Makes and maintains accurate case histories, records, and reports.
• Makes disposition and treatment recommendations to the court.
• Refers probationers/families to community resources for issues.
