Job description

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Justice Detention Officer Supervisor. This position is a pool announcement, with multiple positions to be hired from this announcement.

Minimum Biweekly Rate of Pay: $1,830.32

Position Description:

Responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to agency and facility policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment for youth and staff
  • Supervising and instructing workers in the care and custody of youth
  • Performing administrative functions, including orientation and training of staff, managing leave and attendance, and preparing evaluations and reports

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Services Manual, Federal and State rules and regulations, and DJJ and facility policies and procedures. They will also have the ability to supervise staff and youth, and to physically handle and interact with violent youth.

Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age, a high school graduate or equivalent, and have no felony convictions or misdemeanors involving perjury or false statements. They must also be able to work overtime hours, have a valid driver's license, and be certified in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy or obtain such certification within 180 days of employment.
