Job summary

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a dedicated Correctional Sergeant to provide frontline supervision in a secure facility in Bowling Green. You will oversee staff, maintain security, and assist in rehabilitation efforts for youth.

Requires a high school diploma and at least one year in corrections or related fields; valid driver’s license and ability to meet physical demands are essential. Locality and shift premiums apply. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

High school graduate required.
One year of experience in corrections or related field.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must meet physical demands of restraint and transport.

Responsibilities

Has supervision over and coordinates work of staff or inmates for a program/detail.
Performs custodial security functions.
Supervises DJJ juveniles and aids in interpersonal skill development.
Supervise Correctional Officers; complete evaluations and approve time/attendance.
Maintain shift logs and incident reports; assist with complaints.
Support routine maintenance; ensure safety of juveniles; attend meetings.
Assist in group counseling and assignments.
Transport juveniles to off-campus activities.
Must be able to exert physical effort for restraints; assist with recreational/work projects.
