Zusammenfassung

Jefferson County Detention Center is seeking a role to assist in supervising same-sex juveniles and maintaining a safe, secure environment. The position includes conducting hourly checks, reporting issues, and assisting with intake, meals, and program activities.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of college in behavioral sciences or related field, with preference for a Bachelor's degree. Must be able to work various shifts and obtain CPR certification within six months.

Qualifikationen

• 1 to 2 years of college toward a degree in behavioral sciences, sociology, criminal justice or related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of on-the-job training and/or related experience preferred.

Aufgaben

• Provides on-going supervision and conducts regular hourly checks of same sex juveniles; observes behavior to detect security, safety, emotional and/or medical problems and reports them.
• Counsels with juveniles as appropriate and conducts intake for admitted detainees.
• Prepares juveniles for court, hearings and other appointments; checks out detainees on release.
• Oversees academic and recreational programs; intervenes to break up altercations and restrain out-of-control juveniles.
• Performs pat searches, room checks, and screens control room calls as assigned.
• Maintains safety and security of the facility and overall cleanliness; reports maintenance problems.
• Performs laundry, assists with food preparation, serves meals, and counts utensils.
• Completes required paperwork at end of each shift (confinement, behavior and incident reports).
• Works flexible shifts and attends daily meetings to receive instructions and exchange information.
