Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a part-time Detention Officer to maintain care, custody and safety of residents in a secure environment. The role may involve transporting residents to court, conducting searches, and supervising resident recreation while enforcing facility policies.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, 21+ years of age, at least one year of experience in residential supervision, and CPI/CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• One year of job experience (residential supervision preferred).
• Good computer skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public and employees.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Eligible to be a Certified Detention Officer; CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains care, custody and control of residents per policies and procedures.
• Ensures safety of residents.
• Transports residents to court as needed.
• Searches incoming residents for items not permitted.
• Supervises recreation and restrains residents when required.
