Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some experience with youth groups.
• General knowledge of behavioral science principles.
• Understanding of psychological and emotional issues in maladjusted youth.
• Ability to work in a stressful juvenile detention environment.
• Ability to use a PC for detention center data and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain discipline and control of the residents.
• Maintain direct supervision of residents on the unit, in classrooms, during cleanup, recreation and meals.
• Intervene with residents using appropriate Detention Center policies and procedures.
• Employ basic counseling skills to relieve residents' anxieties.
• Read and document behavioral information about residents in log books and incident reports.
