Job summary

The Iowa Judicial Branch in Marion County seeks applicants for Juvenile Court Officer 1 to learn Juvenile Court Services on a broad range of youth casework. After training, the role becomes an independent Juvenile Court Officer.

You will handle custody, probation oversight, investigations, and placement decisions, working with law enforcement, schools, courts, and communities to reduce delinquency using evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law, criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, education, or related social science.
• Willingness to travel; reliable transportation.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Experience with court processes or juvenile services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn, observe, and ensure Juvenile Court Services comply with the law and procedures.
• Assist in custody, probation, investigations, and out-of-home placement tasks.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, courts, and agencies.
• Participate in the Juvenile Court Officer Academy and on-the-job training.
• Use evidence-based practices in casework and documentation.
