Job summary

Erie County Edmund L. Thomas Center seeks a Juvenile Counselor Trainee to provide care, supervision and security for adolescents in detention and shelter settings. The role involves counseling, discipline, and instruction under the Program Director.

Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, coordinating with schools and community services, maintaining records, and ensuring safety and emotional well-being of residents, with opportunities to pursue Safe Crisis Management training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field (or 60 college credits)
• Experience working with adolescents (1+ year; 3+ years preferred)
• Valid Driver's License required

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for adolescents in detention and shelter settings.
• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Maintain medication records and coordinate with medical staff.
• Plan and participate in daily activities and behavior management.
• Prepare residents for court hearings and assessments.
• Coordinate with schools and community resources.
