Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Juvenile Corrections Access Officer in Columbia, SC. You will manage entry points, verify credentials, and help maintain a secure environment for youth residents and staff.

The role offers a flexible schedule via our Claim a Shift platform, with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour. You will work in a government facility, following post orders and coordinating with facility personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of security-related experience or more.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screen required by policy.
• TB and MMR vaccination requirements noted.
• Licensing requirements may apply per state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and authorized contractors per access-control procedures.
• Monitor access points, verify identification, manage visitor entry, and maintain access-control records.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and report through established channels.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and authorized contractors by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor access points, verify identification and authorization, manage visitor entry procedures, and maintain accurate access-control records in accordance with facility requirements.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, promptly communicating concerns through established reporting channels.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to help identify unauthorized access, unusual activity, and security-related concerns.
• Assist with maintaining an orderly government juvenile justice facility environment by following post orders, documenting observations, and coordinating with facility personnel and/or emergency responders as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least six months of security-related experience.
• Experience using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
