Job summary

The Summit Legal Defenders, based in Akron, Ohio, seeks a dedicated social services professional to represent indigent clients in delinquency and parental representation cases. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, social work, psychology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum one year’s experience in the field of social services.
• Ohio licensed social worker is highly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with racially and socioeconomically marginalized communities.
• Knowledge of Summit County resources preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular communication with clients and attend court hearings as needed.
• Work collaboratively with clients, lawyers, parent advocates, SCCS case workers, and outside agencies.
• Obtain necessary records to aid in the successful representation of the client.
• Assess and evaluate client’s needs and case plan compliance and make referrals to service providers as needed.
• Attend and advocate for clients at SCCS Family Team Meetings and Semi-Annual Reviews.
• Create and maintain mitigation timelines and records for juveniles.
