Job description

Position: Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

Summary of the Position:

Under the supervision of the East Grand Rapids High School (EGRHS) Athletic Director and the head girls soccer coach, the Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach is responsible for developing individual and team skills, building upon the "Tradition of Excellence" of the athletic program. The coach will collaborate with the head coach to prepare athletes for competition.

  • Effective communication and program implementation skills for high school athletics
  • Leadership by example and ability to develop meaningful relationships with stakeholders
  • Commitment to a culture of success, accountability, student development, and sportsmanship
  • Dedication to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
  • Ability to work cooperatively with players, parents, boosters, fans, and media
  • Skill in planning practices that build fundamental skills and adapt to varying ability levels
  • Encouragement of student participation in soccer and advocacy for program growth within the community
  • Willingness to collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches for in-season training
  • Encouragement of participation in multiple sports and extracurricular activities
  • Experience in supervising student athletes
  • Ability to maintain equipment inventory and facility care
  • Adherence to East Grand Rapids Coaches handbook policies
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Preferred: Successful coaching or college playing experience in soccer
  • Flexible time commitment
  • Knowledge of MHSAA rules and regulations
  • CPR/AED certification
  • First aid knowledge (preferred)
Additional Details:

Reports To: Athletic Director

Compensation: Per Contract

Start Date: March 10, 2025

Duration: 1 Year (renewable based on recommendation)
