Job summary

Prince William Water is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support basic mechanical maintenance, preventive tasks, and repairs on pumps, piping, and related systems in our facilities in Woodbridge, VA.

The role emphasizes following safety procedures, using standard tools, reading manuals, and collaborating with senior mechanics on daily assignments. A high school diploma or GED is required, and CDL/ forklift certification may be preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge required.
• Ability to read manuals and SOPs.
• Ability to follow verbal directions and work in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of general, construction, and metric hand tools.
• Basic math to mix and apply liquids.
• Comfortable with computers and basic CMMS entries.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior mechanics with maintenance, installation, and repair of pumps, piping, and related equipment.
• Provide preventive maintenance tasks such as inspection, lubrication, and filter changes.
• Assist with general equipment installation and condition assessments.
• Identify and report mechanical problems and safety concerns.
• Record daily maintenance notes in the CMMS and respond to emails.
• Operate Prince William Water vehicles as required.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
