Job description

We are looking for a seasoned Junior Underwriter to assist in building our alternative payments division.

If you consider yourself a versatile merchant services professional — someone who is eager to innovate beyond current boundaries, using intelligence and knowledge to develop solutions across all aspects of our payments discipline; from onboarding and pre-underwriting to programming gateways and managing change requests — we want you to join our growing team ASAP!

This role is an on-site position, requiring 5 days a week in the office.

It is based in the Orlando area near International Drive, just minutes from I-4 and the Turnpike. If applying from out of state, please note that relocation plans should be indicated on your resume, as remote applications may be rejected due to distance.

Primary Job Responsibilities :

  • Manage the onboarding process for new merchant clients, ensuring a smooth transition and positive customer experience.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary documentation for onboarding.
  • Conduct pre-underwriting assessments to evaluate merchant applications and determine eligibility.
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to facilitate approval and address concerns.
  • Oversee relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with SLAs.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and recommend improvements or changes.
  • Manage and process change requests from merchants, including service modifications and account updates.
  • Ensure timely communication and resolution of change requests to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate setup and configuration of payment gateways, ensuring compatibility with merchant systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve gateway integration issues.
  • Oversee programming and deployment of payment terminals, ensuring functionality and security.
  • Provide training and support to merchants on terminal and system use.
  • Generate reports on merchant performance, transaction volumes, and key metrics.
  • Analyze data to support strategic decision-making for merchant services.
  • Serve as a primary contact for merchant inquiries and issues, providing prompt support.
  • Collaborate with customer support teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years in merchant services or payment processing.
  • Experience in onboarding and managing merchant relationships.
  • Familiarity with payment gateway systems and terminal programming.
  • Understanding of underwriting and risk assessment processes.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM and reporting tools.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and evaluating performance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of conveying technical info to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships and team collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
  • Customer inquiry handling and issue resolution experience.
  • Certified Payments Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
