Job summary

WSP is seeking an Entry Level Assistant Transmission Line Civil or Mechanical Engineer in Phoenix, AZ, to join the Power Delivery Phoenix Line Team. You will contribute to transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions, supporting a growing practice focused on high- voltage infrastructure and project execution.

You will work under supervision to gain hands-on experience with PLS-CADD modeling, structure staking, foundations, and construction support,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
GPA 3.0+ is a strong plus.
0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Strong command of English with good written and oral communication.
Familiarity with design/build concepts.
Familiarity with civil construction laws and codes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Basic proficiency with MS Office, spreadsheets, and office automation.
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies.
Occasional travel may be required.
No relocation or housing assistance provided.

Responsibilities

Execute the engineering of transmission projects up to 765kV.
Support the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient project plan.
Maintain a project budget and schedule.
Facilitate and adhere to WSP’s QA/QC procedures.
Develop transmission line design expertise for PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, drawings, loading, material procurement, and construction support.
Travel to field, as needed.
Exercise ethical decision‑making regarding company funds and conduct.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
