Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. is seeking a civil/traffic engineer to perform traffic data collection, analysis, and reporting for transportation projects.

The role involves working under supervision to interpret and coordinate assignments and to advise junior engineers. Responsibilities include safety evaluations, traffic signal concepts, and infrastructure improvements using CAD, with opportunities to learn ITS and signing/marking design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–5 years of experience in civil/traffic engineering.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis software such as HCS and Synchro.
• Familiarity with the MUTCD, AASHTO, and Highway Safety Manual is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation and collect traffic data.
• Perform traffic analysis using HCS and Synchro software.
• Conduct safety evaluations and crash assessments.
• Develop solutions to mitigate traffic deficiencies.
• Prepare conceptual layouts for recommended improvements.
• Prepare technical memorandums and reports for large and medium traffic studies.
• Learn traffic signal design and ITS concepts using CAD.
