Job summary

Waypoint's client is seeking a skilled Telemetry Engineer to support MDA Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorates. In this role you will provide engineering expertise to validate pre-mission trajectories and performance for flight test events, with onsite support during flight events at Huntsville.

This position requires a STEM degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, DoD Secret clearance, and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Java, and C#.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance and US Citizenship.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Java, and C#.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Support MDA Targets and Countermeasures program with development of ballistic missile target vehicles.
  • Assist TC System Engineering in requirements, modeling, simulations, tests, and reporting.
  • Apply knowledge of missile characteristics and engineering to data products.
  • Focus on vehicle telemetry and mission analysis activities.
  • Configure telemetry data acquisition equipment during test events.
  • Perform telemetry data de-commutation, reductions, and conversions.
  • Generate target visualizations, situational displays, and briefings.
  • Support mission planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop analysis tools.

Waypoint’s client is seeking a skilled Telemetry Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorates. In this role, you will provide critical engineering expertise to the team responsible for performing pre-mission trajectory validation and performance analysis for the flight test events along with onsite expertise during flight events.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office with development of ballistic missile target vehicles.
  • Support the TC System Engineering team in all aspects of target design, analysis, and test to include requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis and reporting.
  • Utilize knowledge, skills and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.
  • Technical focus areas include vehicle telemetry and mission analysis.
  • Configure and operate telemetry data acquisition equipment during test events.
  • Perform vehicle telemetry data de-commutation, reduction, conversions, etc.
  • Generate target vehicle visualizations, situational awareness displays, and reports/briefings.
  • Support mission planning, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in multiple technical areas to develop analysis and engineering tools.
  • Utilize knowledge, skills and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Java, C#, and other programming languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Desired:
  • Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
  • Experience supporting MDA and/or DoD test events.
  • Experience with telemetry systems and data processing.
  • Experience in any or all of the following disciplines: Design, CAD, Trajectory, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Signatures, Optical Signatures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
