Job summary

The Kasper Group is seeking a Junior Technical Designer to manage styles with increasing independence, support the Technical Designer on complex fit issues, and bridge between Associate Technical Designer and Technical Designer.

You will participate in live fittings, develop and communicate technical corrections to overseas factories, maintain specifications and technical packages, and help drive styles through the fit approval process.

Qualifications

• Progressive Technical Design experience within women’s apparel, typically beyond the Associate level and approaching full Technical Designer capability.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, specifications, grading fundamentals and pattern correction.
• Demonstrated ability to manage assigned styles and communicate technical corrections with limited supervision.
• Experience participating actively in live fittings and independently documenting and executing fit direction.
• Strong PLM and technical package experience.
• CAD / Adobe Illustrator skills and proficiency in Excel and technical development systems.
• Experience working directly with overseas factories and vendors.
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned styles through the fit and development process with limited supervision.
• Prepare for and participate actively in live fittings, identifying fit, balance and construction issues and recommending corrections.
• Take ownership of fit comments, specifications, construction details and technical package updates for assigned styles.
• Communicate fit, construction and pattern corrections directly to overseas factories and follow through to resolution.
• Review samples for measurement accuracy, construction, workmanship and adherence to approved specifications.
• Support the fit approval process and independently track sample status, outstanding comments and approvals.
• Revise specifications and provide clear technical direction regarding garment construction and pattern corrections.
• Partner closely with Design, Production and overseas factories throughout development.
• Maintain consistency in fit and construction standards across assigned categories and vendors.
• Proactively identify fit, construction, timing or sample-flow issues and escalated more complex technical concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate PLM records, technical packages, fit comments and approval history.
• Manage multiple styles, categories and deadlines while maintaining department Time and Action calendars.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to Associate Technical Designers as needed.

The Junior Technical Designer is an intermediate-level Technical Design professional responsible for managing assigned styles and categories with greater independence while supporting the Technical Designer on more complex fit and construction issues. This role participates actively in fittings, develops and communicates technical corrections directly to factories, maintains specifications and technical packages, and helps drive styles through the fit approval process. The position serves as the bridge between Associate Technical Designer and Technical Designer.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $70K - $80K *Actual base salary for this role within the above range will be based upon experience, qualifications and/or assigned unit.
