Job summary

PeopleCert is seeking a motivated Junior Tax Accountant to join our finance team in the United States. You will assist in preparing and filing tax returns, perform tax calculations, and support tax provisions and documentation.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's in accounting or finance, have internship or 1+ year tax accounting experience, strong English skills, and solid Excel abilities. This role offers growth in a global company with audits, credits, and international tax routines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and filing tax returns (corporate, individual, etc.) in compliance with tax regulations.
• Perform tax calculations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Support the preparation of tax provisions, reports, and documentation.
• Conduct basic tax research to stay updated on new tax laws and regulations.
• Assist in responding to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
• Collaborate with senior accountants to ensure tax compliance and best practices.
• Help maintain tax records and ensure accurate filing systems.
• Assist in identifying potential tax deductions and credits to minimize tax liabilities.
• Assist in AADE obligations, transmission of invoices and reconciliation with books.

As a Junior Tax Accountant, your tasks will include the following:

What we look for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Internship or 1+ year of experience in tax accounting or a similar role (preferred)
• Basic understanding of tax laws and regulations
• Excellent command of English is required (C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus).
• Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advance level certification is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

• A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check

• Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)

• HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)

• Financial background check

• Employment reference check.

• If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
