Job Description:

A Computer Systems Analyst II analyzes business or scientific problems for resolution through electronic data processing and uses knowledge of work processes and procedures related to computer programming practices, system software, and computer equipment to define work problems and, if feasible, designs a system of computer programs and procedures to resolve problems.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

  • Assist in the maintenance and modification of complex systems
  • Support development of new subsystems such as integrated production or operations scheduling, cost analysis, or inventory control
  • Adapt design approaches, which have successfully been used in precedent systems
  • Guide users in formulating requirements and advise on alternatives and implications of new or revised data processing systems
  • Analyze user project proposals, identify omissions and errors in requirements, and conduct feasibility studies
  • Provide technical support to computer users and organize sequence of events in computer operation cycle
  • Investigate and locate source of non-standard irregularities
  • Analyze and recover program operations in complex error situations
  • Interface with systems analysts, engineers, and other system users
  • Support special project activities relative to planning, computer program coding, and related activities
  • Maintain a filing system of databases for tracking and inventory of database information
  • Provide functional direction to subordinate assistants on assigned work, as required
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

Due to customer requirements, U.S Citizenship is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Security Clearance for duration of employment.

One of the following educational requirements must be met for this position:

  1. An associate’s degree (preferred, not required)
  2. Vocational/technical training beyond high school and a minimum of 8 years of job-related experience
  3. The equivalent of vocational/technical training beyond high school and a minimum of 8 years of job-related experience

In addition, a Computer Systems Analyst II must possess the following qualifications:

  • Familiarity with all phases of systems analysis techniques, concepts, and methods
  • Knowledge of available system software, computer equipment, and user requirements
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Good planning/organizational skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines

Salary: the expected pay range for this position is $57,491 to $71,843 but is subject to change.
