Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat’s Software Engineering Group (SEG) is seeking junior software developers to join a team pushing the boundaries of submarine design, manufacturing and construction. From initial concept through implementation, you will collaborate with stakeholders, designers and engineers to deliver practical, innovative applications that meet customer needs and support cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
• 5-10 years of post-graduate hands-on experience developing java applications and/or responsive web applications
• Java and/or web-based application development using JavaScript/Typescript
• Experience developing applications with Oracle/SQL databases using Java, JavaScript/Typescript, and React
• Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies
• A solid understanding of how applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
• Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines is advantageous
• Experience with automated testing, e.g. Selenium, JUnit

Responsibilities

• Work with end users and the development teams to define, plan and build complexapplications(typically using Java and JavaScript/Typescript).
• Translation of the requirements, UI/UX designs and high-fidelity prototypesto produce visual elements of the applicationand desired behavior.
• Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Promoting strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards.
• Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product
